Looks great out of box
Have not used in a build yet, but inspection out of the box seems like a great barrel for the price. Will follow up after build is complete. Can't wait until I can shoot some groups for accuracy.

Nice barrel
Received the barrel and at initial inspection looks pretty good. Nice and clean lines and holes. Will follow up with results when I finish my build

5R Obsidian Ultra match barrel
I have not shot these barrels yet. I will post an update as events permit. Things of note: The Cobratac price for a nitrided, cut-rifled 5R barrel is extraordinary. However: the barrels arrived in a jumble, having lost protective foam covering the muzzles and barrel extensions in transit. The result: some scratches and dings to the barrel exteriors, including muzzles and threads. Hopefully, this is cosmetic, and not serious. Also, the bores are full of residue from the nitriding process. These residues are rusty when oxidized, toxic with long-term exposure, and not so easy to get out of the bore. Some discussion on their removal is found at: http://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?143517-Barrel-nitriding-residue-removal-solvents-toxicity. Although Harrison (Constructor)--who is both knowledgeable and experienced--is blase about the need and effort required to remove such residues, I do not completely share his perspective. Although nitrided steels are very corrosion resistant, leaving any salt in the bore is likely to eventually corrode the bore in the long term, even if there is no short term problem, or even short term benefits. At a minimum, clean as Harrison suggests before assembly. At a prudent maximum, boil out the salts in a bath of glass distilled water, with intervals of scrubbing with a very tight brush wrapped in bronze wool. Do not forget the gas port. Once the barrels are dry, scrub the bore with a mixture of penetrating oil, metal conditioner, and oil, patch dry, and you're good to go.
