The plastic capsule containing the shot column is seated in a standard .22 LR case and cycles reliably in bolt-action and single-shot platforms; semi-autos typically won't cycle from the reduced recoil but single-shots and revolvers run them perfectly. The #12 shot — essentially lead dust in granular form — delivers a pattern at 6 feet that covers a 6-8 inch diameter, enough to reliably eliminate rattlesnakes, cottonmouths, and various small vermin without penetrating far enough to create a ricochet hazard in confined spaces.
