In short , Increased weight allows for more reliable function in rifles with shorter gas systems. Heavier weight reduces bolt bounce in full auto or rapid fire. The Increased weight also softens recoil. The Heavier 4.9 oz weight also allows for a longer dwell time slowing down the cycling of the rifle.

Excellent product
I purchased this heavier buffer in order to remedy an overgassed condition in my carbine length AR. Fit and finish were excellent. The buffer operated flawlessly, and solved my extraction issues. Thanks again Cobratac for another great product.

The heavy buffer along with heavier BC helped with the over gassing problem.

I put the heavy buffer on my 458 socom build to offset the recoil. the gun cycled good and offsets a little recoil.
