What is it? A blast shield is a small device that fits over the flash hider that is basically just an open face can. It redirects 100% of the escaping gasses downrange. There are a many benefits:

1. It reduces over pressure
2. makes shooting a lot more enjoyable to the people next to you at the range. 
3. Minimal dust cloud with tactical usage: performing drills, or shooting off the ground (like under a car) with rapid follow up shots reduce chances jamming up the weapon.

Concussion redirection devices are very popular, The shooter can be impacted whether it be their hearing or a major disruption for follow up shots. The people around you can get it even worse, as they are in the path of the side blast when on the range or in a CQB. The Griffin Armament QD Blast Shield is constructed of 17-4PH stainless steel and is ideal concussion redirection in close quarters when used in conjunction with a muzzle device. This is a fantastic add on that will redirect muzzle blast forward, away from other team members and is especially effective on shorter barrels. The QD Blast Shield is primarily designed to minimize or eliminate the negative effects of muzzle blast. A quick detach mechanism included with the unit is compatible with the Griffin line of SDQD mounts including the Flash Comp, Muzzle Brake, Linear Comp, Compensating Flash Hider, and Tactical Compensator. It's also compatible with many Mil-SPEC USGI A2 muzzle devices, however it should be noted that not all A2 style muzzle devices are made to Mil-SPEC USGI dimensions.
