The Magpul BAD Lever (Battery Assist Device) is a machined 6061-T6 aluminum extension that attaches to the AR-15 bolt catch and extends a paddle to the right side of the receiver — allowing the shooter to lock and release the bolt with the right-hand trigger finger without breaking the firing grip or reaching across the receiver with the support hand. The operational benefit is concrete: after a reload, the shooter can drop the bolt with a flick of the right index finger from the normal firing grip, shaving the half-second that reaching for the left-side bolt catch costs in competition or emergency use. The BAD Lever also provides a left-handed bolt catch engagement point for left-handed shooters running ambidextrous operations. Installation requires no permanent modification to the receiver — it clamps to the existing bolt catch using the original pivot pin. At under 0.2 oz in 6061-T6, the weight addition is essentially immeasurable.
