The ribbed body provides structural rigidity that resists denting under impact and the consistent internal geometry maintains reliable feed angles across the full 30-round capacity. Steel AK magazines are the original OEM material for the AK platform and many serious AK shooters strongly prefer steel over polymer for the familiar feed and fit feel that the platform was engineered around.
